I was hoping the mermaid was real and he would end up going to live with her under the water

I watched this movie with both my father and mother. We were halfway through it when my father stood up and took the Bible and went to the other room to read it. My mother and I kept watching it and to this day this is one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. This movie will prove those people who still say Robert Patterson can't act they need to watch this movie and the lost city of z and nolans upcoming tenet when it comes out.

This was a CRAZY movie. CRAY-ZEEEEE. I had to google to try to even begin to understand what I just watched. I'm not sure how I feel about spending an afternoon with these two crusty dudes, but Pattinson & Dafoe both deserve Oscars for these performances. Just spectacular.

If your listening with headphones only listen to the left side. For some reason its only playing the sound effects and not the dialogue.

I really like The Lighthouse even if I am not sure I understand everything that's happening. The Lighthouse is one of those movies that can only work if you got excellent actors and Willem Dafoe (like always) and Robert Pattinson perform excellent. To enjoy this movie you should like to watch the unusual, trippy, and weird stuff and don't mind that something is shot black and white only. A fine piece for a open-minded and experiments liking audience but maybe unwatchable for those who are looking for something rather mainstream. All in all: remarkable.

Willem is a national treasure. One of the best ever...

This reminds me of my parents shortly before their divorce. Great film. Perfect pace, acting and with the exception the Witch herself, few predictable Hollywood affectations... I was at Washington State Hospital being interviewed for a court presiding that would determine if the Hospital should continue to keep me against my will. Claiming that I was crazy was simple wasn't it? Anyway, the doctor interviewing me thought my name was odd enough to ask me what I preferred to be called. Wishing to give. I told her Dee-dee. She paused as if she had be struck by something. How did my condition come to reading about things I didn't remember saying? I'm the captain of my dingy and I dance in the waves searching for the beam of light to show me the way. People giving this movie less than 8 doesn't get the movie at all. Those people will be happy with the new fast and furious or other mindless high budget films. Now to the movie, it's a journey of going into madness. Try staying at a lighthouse with only a other guy and in those times, I see myself going mad lol. The bgm, the cinematography, camera movements, acting all are top class. It creates a unsettling atmosphere and you're really into the story. This of course requires a second watch with subtitles. Since the dialouges were inspired from that time, sometimes it's not easy to understand the dialogues. But Dafoe and Pattinson stole the show with the acting. It was a movie experience for me that I didn't have for a long time. Must watch for movie lovers.

They did such a great job on this trailer. Ive seen the movie a thousand times but the trailer still gives me chills. So I had some friends in the grade above me who went to see this movie on the weekend, and they absolutely hated the film because of what this trailer showed them, also they were all high amid the feature. One of them claimed it was the worst movie they had ever seen, another wanted to write hate mail to the creators. Then I went to go see the film 2 years later entirely expecting to see what made their view on it so exasperated. I didn't. I absolutely adore this film. It's in no way one of the greatest horror films but what it can directly show contemporary audiences is that of what the genre of horror is actually about. Horror does not aim to scare you, horror is horror; it's supposed to shine a light on completely out of reach circumstances apart from our normal lives, if artistic it can be to represent something. What, for me, makes a good horror film is not a scare I endure during the film, it's a series sequences or images that you can take a step back and directly say: That's horror.

If J.K Simmons can come back as Jameson, than so can Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn. The Lighthouse was amazing - Pattinsons performance right up there w Daniel Day Lewis. He's such a master.
